our usual spelling routine has changed. We have successfully worked through 300 2nd grade sight words and 30 weeks of spelling patterns! For the remainder of the year, the students will be working with individualized lists of words that are tailored to their specific spelling needs. Through a pretest that we took Monday, I have determined what developmental spelling stage each student is in. Based on the results, we are targeting specific spelling patterns that they need to work on.
We will be doing:
word sorts
word hunts
and games at school with each of their lists.
You will not be seeing our traditional spelling lists/tests coming home for the remainder of the year. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
Thank you!

Our classroom has been granted access to an on-line reading program with interactive ebooks called Raz-Kids.com. The Raz-Kids animated leveled books and interactive quizzes allow students to listen to reading books, read with vocabulary and pronunciation support and read without support. Each of my students has access to appropriate reading levels and specific books. Now my students can practice reading to improve reading comprehension and reading fluency anywhere with internet access! Please have your child show you our newest reading addition! They can locate raz-kids under our links tab in either the literacy or listen to reading sections. My teacher username is dgutelli.
Happy reading,
Mrs. Gutelli
ps…if you have an iPad you can download the a-z reading app too!

Bring in a dollar bill to wear a hat. Don’t forget to dress in running clothes and hydrate for your Ragnar Run in PE!
Online donations can be made here.

All library books for kids are due back on May 25th. A popsicle party in the courtyard can be earned for returned books. Each grade level will have a winner for the first class that returns all their library books starting on the 25th. It will be a reading popsicle party, we don’t want to lose sight of what earned them the treat!
If students have lost a book during the year, paying for the book is the same as returning it. That kind of transaction should occur anytime before the 25th.
Tomorrow is Dollars for Deutsch. Help us reach our goal of $10,000 for the Rory David Deutsch Foundation by bringing in dollar bills.
