8/25/10 – 9/10/10 – Mr. Canel will visit your class to talk about band and give you the chance to try some instruments.

9/16/10 – Sign up meeting for students and Parents/guardians at LINCOLN SCHOOL from 4-7pm. Please email or call me (847.433.0155 ext. 2272) ahead of time to schedule a 10 minute meeting.
9/20/10 - Small group lessons begin at each school this week. You will get a schedule from Mr. Canel telling you the day of the week and the time to come to lessons.
OCTOBER
10/18/10 – Band rehearsals will start at lunch/recess this week.
NOVEMBER
11/21/11 -11/22/11 - Parent/Teacher conferences. I will be stationed mostly in the Braeside Band Room (Basement next to the cafeteria), however I do frequently travel around to other buildings. If you would like to speak with me, you are welcome to stop by, but you may want to email (ecanel@nssd112.org) or call first to be sure I am at your building. You can call me at 224-765-3438.
DECEMBER
12/17/11-1/2/12 - WINTER VACATION!!! Remember to “use it or lose it.” You have worked hard to get where you are. If you do not continue to play over the break, you will lost your abilities. While I do not expect you to bring your instrument if you travel, I do expect that if you are home, you are playing at least a little bit every day.
JANUARY
Practice a bunch. The concert is coming soon!
FEBRUARY
2/8/11 – 8:00 am – DRESS REHEARSAL AT EDGEWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL. Please arrive between 7:50 am and 8:00 am. Enter through the upper circle main entrance. Someone will be there to greet you and direct you to the auditorium. We will rehearse until 8:40. At that time, we will board a school bus and go to your school for the rest of the school day. You will leave instruments and music at Edgewood for the evening performance. PUT YOUR NAME ON EVERYTHING. You will not need your music stands from home for this.
2/8/11 - 7:00 pm – YOUR FIRST CONCERT! We will perform at Edgewood Middle School on the stage. Performers arrive at 6:40pm so that we can warm up on stage together. Concert uniform is your band t-shirt and jeans. Participation is required. If you cannot be at this concert, please notify me in writing or email ahead of time.
