Just another North Shore School District 112 weblog

iRead for 112 Foundation 2012

Students will keep a daily reading log from March 9th  – April 9th. I am requiring that they keep the log, but the fund raising commitment is a decision to be made at home. Please encourage your child to read every day and to log their minutes. Thank you.

Math Class Nutrition Analysis

Mr. Nickel’s math class has completed the data collection and graphing unit. The students are skilled in the construction of several types of graphs based on varied sets of data of their own choosing. Their graphs are made on paper or by using various spreadsheets; they have also been made at home and shared digitally at school. We will begin an analysis of packaged food to examine the caloric intake by consumers as fats, proteins, and carbohydrates (simple and complex) as a percentages of the entire caloric intake per serving. The importance of this study lies in understanding that all three of these nutrition groups are necessary, but that calories from fat need to be limited to ensure a healthy diet. Most of the work for this project will need to be done at home and shared digitally. Please save those food labels for our nutrition study!
