Hi Team Members,
Tomorrow morning at 9:00 we will be taking our Spring MAP Testing for Math. Please sleep well and remember to eat a healthy breakfast.
First, we had gym and played different throwing and catching games. Then we went to the I.M.C and read people in our group’s stories. Then we got our snack. After that, we worked on some reading pages about fact or opinion and understanding graphs. Next we got laptops and worked on some review questions. Then we went to recess and had lunch. After that, we watched a Schoolhouse Rock called Fireworks since we are studying the Declaration of Independence. Then we did Current Events. We heard about news in Kabul from Eric and also about the upcoming NATO meeting in Chicago. Next, we worked on our novels with a partner. After that,we had some time to work on our reading homework. Then we worked on Social Studies and learned more about the Declaration of Independence. After that we watched a Brain Pop video on the Declaration of Independence. After that, we took a quiz on it. Michael and I got 10/10! Then we played an “I Have…Who Has” game. Then we went to math and worked on designing kites with straws for our enrichment project. I wonder whose will fly. Have a nice day, team 5W!
P.S: N.A.T.O means North Atlantic Treaty Organization
Today we started off the day with M.I.E.L. Some people did really tough problems. Great job, Team 5W. Next we are doing out last Storytown week. We went through our packet and talked about fact and opinion and summarizing and paraphrasing. We worked on our words and some pages in the packet. We also read the story which is a Reader’s Theater. Then we went to gym. We played sharks and minnows, ran 1 lap around the mini track, continuous dodgeball and regular dodgeball. Next we finished our game about main idea and details and now we are doing social studies and learning about the Declaration of Independence. Next we went to lunch/ recess. We did current events after recess. We found out that Hello Kitty got its own airline. Good job, Lindy. We are now continuing social studies. Next we are going to music. Then we did novel and we got into groups and discussed our book. Then we went to math. Today was a Marvelous Monday!!
To start off the day, we went to a music rehearsal. We practiced all of the solos. Great job everyone! We added some really funny parts. Eden had a great current events report, too! Next, we took a math benchmark. It was an extended response. When we finished our test, we could read about science and our new lesson, CELLS!!!!!! After the test, we worked on Top Secret stuff. (sorry we can’t say!) After our Top Secret Stuff, we had gym! We played spasketball, and then soccer! Marcus said, “ I love spasket ball!” After gym, we had lunch and recess! It was the Organic Lunch, and it was chicken noodle soup! When we got back from lunch and recess, we worked on more Top Secret Stuff. We soon went to art, and worked on a project. (we can’t say what that is either!) Time for math! Mr. Lucci’s class got their tests back! Good job everyone! RING!!! That’s the bell! I hope everyone had a thrilling Thursday!
Today is Wednesday. First when we came to school and we had enrichment. We did our weekly skits. Skits is when we pick vocabulary words and we do a mini play. The rest of the class guesses our words. It was really fun. Then we went to the lab to do Mother’s Day work. Then we worked on Grammar. After that we went to music and Mrs. Sayers gave out the last of the parts for the Spring Sing on May 18th. Then we worked on Science and we read about cells. It was very interesting. Then we had gym and we played golf. After gym we had lunch/recess. Then after lunch/recess we watched the Battle of the Books finals. The battle of the books is when teams play each other and they have to answer as many questions as they can about the books that they read. Both teams did very well and Team One ended up winning. We are really proud of everyone who participated.
Then we went to the lab again to finish our Top Secret work. Lastly, after we finished our Top Secret work we took a Math Benchmark.
Today was very busy. First, we went to P. E. and played kickball against Mrs. Cohen’s class. Then we went to the IMC and got our writers conference groups and read the stories by the people in our group. They were really good! Then we had Enrichment. In Mrs. Ozawa’s class, we talked about how foods are produced in different areas of the world and how they do it. Then we practiced some vocabulary and speech skills with some Edmodo assignments. At recess everyone was active. (Except for the band students, they were at rehearsal, so they may not have been as physically active.) After lunch we had grammar. We then took our CBM fluency tests. Everyone gave it their best effort. Then we went to math. It was a great day!
We started off the day with MIEL. “My favorite MIEL was Molly’s because it wasn’t hard, but it wasn’t easy,” said Hannah. Then we did our Storytown packet and learned our new words for the week. We also read and created captions. Then we learned about fact and opinion. Then we did spelling. And we got to play tic-tac-toe with our partners. Wasn’t that fun? Next we played kickball in p.e. it was very fun. Then we listened to David and Steven’s C.E. Here was David’s Current Events: Little Jamie Myska-Buddell might be the World’s new ping-pong champion! At only about 2 years old he has started to have amazing coordination! David also showed us a really funny video of him playing ping-pong!
“>Watch it now!
“Steven’s was exciting and sad at the same time,” said Hannah. Then we went to music with Mrs. Sayers. There was a surprise ending, courtesy of Harrison. We did some reading tests and went to math.

Today we were very busy in class. To start out our day we worked on some really fun Carnival questions. We talked about ferris wheels and roller coasters. The questions made us think really hard. Then after that we went to P.E. and we played two fun games including hockey and lacrosse. For hockey we went outside but for lacrosse we stayed inside the gym. It was really fun! After P.E we came back to class to take our social studies chapter 11 test. Then in enrichment we got our new partners and we got our new W.W. vocabulary words! After enrichment we went up to the IMC and we watched a battle, for Battle of the Books. We watched Emily, David, and Mel. Good job to all of you! After that we got ready to go to recess and then to go to lunch. When we got back from our fun recess outside, we came inside and we listened to Nathan and Eveline. Nathan did a really cool current events, about Derrick Rose’s injury. And Eveline did a really good current events, about a man who freed exotic animals to get them back. They were both really good articles! After current events we got on the computers and in our groups and worked on novels. Then to end our day we had math. Eden said “The day was exotic.” Luckily all of us got 100% on the multiple choice part of our social studies test!” We can’t wait to get our final grades on the test tomorrow.
