I can’t wait for Friday night’s big event. Based on several student and parent comments, it sounds like our PTO has chosen a great movie. Remember to bring your sleeping bag and definitely don’t forget pajamas is the attire! I look forward to seeing you all there!
A MILLION THANKS!!!
As we dash into winter break and celebrate our year, please take a moment to reflect! Happy New Year!
Keeping up with the times!
What a pace?!
My apologies for the delay in keeping up with my blog… Since the start of school, we have tackled our school improvement plan, began the implementation journey of PBIS, maneuvered through fall and winter local assessments, connected with our families during conferences, and celebrated during PTO functions (Bingo Night and Family Reading Night). All of these items were a tremendous success because of our families and staff.
As Winter Break approaches, I hope everyone finds time to relax, enjoy friends and family, and prepare for a GREAT second half of the school year. We have a lot to accomplish and many things to learn. As always, I look forward to doing this with you!
Tick… Tick… Tick…
The time keeps ticking away, and we keep trying to find extra time. Luis, Mr. Phillips, and I have spent a considerable amount of time cleaning and refreshing the building while revamping our staff Wiki page and planning for opening day. In the next couple of weeks, we will welcome back our teachers, so they can get their rooms ready. We can’t wait to see everyone back at Indian Trail. See you soon!
Opening Day
Welcome Back! Every year we run back into the building after spring break. It is amazing to see the excitement and energy in the classroom. I still ponder… Is it because the end of the school year is near or Is it because baseball in Chicago starts on Monday? GO CUBS!!!
1st Annual Diversity Awareness Week
Diversity Awareness Week sponsored by the PTO is here! It will take place from Monday, March 1st through Friday, March 5th. The goal of the week is to have students increase their awareness, understanding and compassion for people with differences, challenges and disabilities.
Here is the schedule of events for the week:
Monday (March 1): Kids on the Block Assembly
Tuesday (March 2): Book and Discussion
Wednesday and Thursday (March 3 and March 4): Celebrating Differences Fair during PE. During PE the students will participate in different stations to experience some of the challenges that individuals with differences face.
Friday (March 5): Painting Tigers with Buddy Class
This promises to be one of the highlights of the school year!
ISATs are HERE!
We are beginning our yearly state testing this week. Our students and staff have worked extremely hard this year, and everyone is excited to show how much they have learned. Please remember that the ISATs are an opportunity to display knowledge; they are a celebration!
2nd Grade Performance!
It was a delight seeing all the 2nd graders perform last week. Their efforts during practice and rehearsal were extraordinary. The show was a masterpiece. A million thanks to Ms. Pellerite for her unwavering support, hard work, and dedication to our students. Great JOB!
Artist in Residence
A million thanks to our 2009 5th grade graduates!
Indian Trail was fortunate to spend the day with muralist and children’s author/illustrator, Mr. Kevin Luthardt. Mr. Luthardt presented at various assemblies throughout the day. Additionally, Mr. Luthardt will be painting an abstract expressionist mural. Please take a moment to stop by in mid February and view our students’ and Mr. Luthardt’s work.
Welcome!!!
I hope the entire Indian Trail family is having a wonderful winter break! I am truly looking forward to everyone’s return. Bring stories and pictures, bring laughter and excitement, and most of all bring your curiosity and motivation. The second half of the school year promises to be one filled with opportunity and growth!
